A Message from Dr. Sadorf: My Next Chapter & What’s Ahead for ARSA

Dear ARSA Members and Partners,

I’m writing to share some exciting news: I have accepted the role of Executive Director for the National Rural Education Association (NREA), and will begin this new chapter on June 1, 2025.

Serving as your Executive Director has been one of the greatest honors of my career. Together, we have strengthened rural advocacy in Arizona, expanded membership, elevated rural educator recognition programs, and deepened professional learning opportunities across the state. I’m proud of what we’ve built—and I carry that same spirit into this new national role.

What does this mean for ARSA? Our work continues.

Throughout June, I will remain active in supporting our transition plan, ensuring continuity for our programs, partnerships, and events. I am thrilled to share that Henry Dunkerson will step in as the Interim Executive Director of ARSA beginning July 1. Henry is a dedicated rural leader with a strong vision for continuing our momentum. I know ARSA is in good hands.

To our members, board, and partners: thank you for your trust, your collaboration, and your unwavering belief in the power of rural education. While I may be stepping into a national role, Arizona will always be home—and I will remain a proud champion for the rural schools that shape our future.

With gratitude,

Melissa Signature
