ARSA Seeks Applications for Executive Director

Executive Director – Arizona Rural Schools Association (ARSA)

Arizona Rural Schools Association is seeking a Part Time (approximately 25 hours per week) Executive Director to lead the organization.

  • Base Pay - $60,000 annually
  • Opportunity for bonus for meeting key indicators.
  • Preferred start date - October 15

The Executive Director serves as the chief administrative officer of the Arizona Rural Schools Association, responsible for advancing the mission of supporting and advocating for rural schools across the state. This role requires a highly motivated leader with strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills to represent ARSA with members, partners, and state and national organizations.

 

Membership & Communication

  • Build and maintain membership and build strong relationships with rural school districts throughout Arizona.
  • Disseminate timely and relevant information to ARSA members.
  • Publish the quarterly ARSA newsletter.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the ARSA Board of Directors.

 

Professional Representation

  • Attend meetings of County Administrators, ARSA General Membership, and other related education bodies.
  • Represent ARSA at conferences and convenings hosted by other organizations at the state and national levels.
  • Maintain active relationships with educational partners, including ASA, GPEMC/AZMEC, ASBO, ASBA, ADE, and SBE.
  • Establish and sustain positive relationships with Arizona’s institutions of higher education (NAU, ASU, UArizona, GCU, community colleges).
     

Board & Governance Support

  • Coordinate board meetings and prepare agendas with president
  • Coordinate board meetings to select finalists for Teacher of the Year (TOY) and Hall of Fame (HOF) nominations, as well as TOY interviews.
  • File all necessary annual fiscal and organizational reports in compliance with regulations.
  • Organize board elections in accordance with bylaws
  • Support the ARSA board in fulfilling any additional duties as assigned.
     

Financial Management

  • Serve as the fiscal agent for the association, ensuring sound financial practices and a strong financial position.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and prepare required reports.
     

Event & Program Coordination

  • Coordinate the annual ARSA Conference, including:
    • Securing facilities and managing venue arrangements.
    • Recruiting business partners, sponsors, exhibitors, and keynote speakers.
    • Managing registration, materials, and communications.
    • Overseeing the golf tournament, TOY applications, and HOF nominations.
    • Preparing awards, signage, and event documentation.
  • Arrange ARSA General Membership meetings in conjunction with other professional organization conferences.
     

External Relations & Development

  • Attend state and national conferences to strengthen relationships with sponsors and vendors.
  • Identify and pursue partnership opportunities that benefit rural schools, students, and communities.
